Why.

Why? Why make an anti-blog? Why promote hate? Why be so negative? Why can't you just turn the dial?

Put in those terms, this seems like a rather ill-conceived project. But then noon rolls around, and I forget to switch the station after Rush... and this pompass windbag of a Scotsman comes on the radio, and I know why.

KFI is a radio station here in Southern California with a decidedly right-wing bent. They are arguably the nation's largest talk station. As such, they have their pick of the best conservative conversationalists in the country, and they have quite a stable of thoroughbreds in the stable. We also expect this of them... we expect professional, articulate, thought-provoking, interesting and sincere hosts. And by and large, that is what we get.

Bill Carroll is the unfortunate exception, the anti-host. Bill scores lacking on all points in the list of expected traits of a good talker, and then some. If he were just bumbling, or stupid, or ill-informed, he would be twice the entertainer he is. But Carroll fails at all levels of measure for a good host. Add his oversized estimation of his own self-importance, and you can see why.

We, as listeners, deserve better than hackneyed radio hacks. And we should expect so much more from the leader in the field. KFI has let us down with Bill Carroll. We need to make our voices heard so that we can have a professional, articulate, thought-provoking, interesting and sincere radio host in LA from noon to three.
